Which is the Best Pool to Join? Swimming Lessons?

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "No Frills=Big Fun":

Can someone give some feedback on the best pool to join in the area? I seem to know people who join either Plainiview, Syosset, Bethpage, Cantiague or Piquets Lane. That's quite a choice for me. Any suggestions on which is best?

Also, has anyone done the swimming lessons at any of these pools before?

  1. While we're talking about activities, can we get some ratings on the martial arts centers in the area? Is any one better or worse than any other?

  2. If you say something nasty about a pool employee or volunteer you would get a quicker response. That's the way it seems to work

  3. If you live in Plainview and want your kids to be able to hang out with lots of other kids from Plainview, then there is really only one choice....Plainview. My kids took swimming lessons there and loved it

  4. The setting of the Syosset pool is much nicer than Plainview. The playground certainly has more shade. As far as the actual pools/swimming, they're comparable. Plainview draws mostly from Plainview while Syosset attracts not only Syosset/Woodbury but Jericho, Oyster Bay and other towns in TOBAY that don't have a community pool.

Cantiague is a Nassau County pool. It has slides and a cute interactive water spray area. You don't have to be a member to take swimming lessons there. The chairs are more comfortable there. The only downside is that they close at 6PM every day so no evening swims.

How about going to each pool for a day next week (pay for just the day you're there) and then decide which one you like better and then join it?

  7. The second comment 6:26 AM should be deleted. It adds nothing to the discussion and is insulting people who use this blog.
