Only the Kids Will Suffer

Unfortunately, voting down the budget will do nothing for the mandatory costs, like the teachers salaries and pension contributions, and the contracted costs, etc.

All it will do is take away the clubs and sports and "extras" the kids get and put us back to a contingency/austerity budget which is basically bare bones. It will affect the paper for the copiers, construction paper for the classrooms, textbooks and other classroom supplies.

Voting down the budget will do nothing to show the teachers, the administration or the union anything other than that we don't care that our kids will go without.

Sure, it will send a message, but I'm not sure it will send the message that we want it to. Unfortunately, only the kids will suffer and have to do without while the teachers, administrators and union go on with business as usual.
