At Stratford, the Principal Could Care Less

Stratford Parent has left a new comment on your post "Why Are Scores So Much Lower?":

Administration blames it on the special ed kids but the truth is that many of the teachers at Stratford do their own thing and most don't do enough. Some don't do any science, some still do Investigations math. Most classes don't have reading groups and they don't do much ELA work. The principal couldn't care less. She's tenured. No one is checking up on what she does and she hides in her office all day. She doesn't return phone calls. She doesn't check on the teachers even when parents complain year after year about the same things. The teachers know they can do whatever they want and most of them do the least amount possible.

  1. As disturbing as your posting is, I have to say it brought a smile to my face. I thought I was the only one to notice this about Stratford, particularly the principal. Try taking your concerns higher, like I did. Not only couldn't she care less as you say, she's dishonest and dishonorable also. Well, at least I'm not alone.

  2. Community members should report all of these injustices to the NYS Commissioner of Education. When it's one parent complaining, nothing gets done. If multiple letters arrive in Albany, something might get done. The address is as follows.

    Commissioner David M. Steiner
    New York State Education Department
    89 Washington Avenue
    Albany, NY 12234
