Stratford, Where is the Administration?

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Partnerships Between Parents and Schools?":

Stratford is far from what it should be. I wouldn't say it's all bad but I can see where parents would be dissatisfied with it. The parents there are great and so is the PTA. The low test scores should not be attributed to the special ed population there. The administration doesn't manage who is teaching what. It wouldn't surprise me if the principal were from the school of thought that her top priority is to support, protect, advocate for and defend the teachers. The students and parents are secondary to her paycheck and grievance avoidance.

  1. A Stratford event during school hours with no administrator showing face - No surprise.

If the cars were parked right next to the picnic with nobody monitoring where the kids were going, that's VERY dangerous.

If the event took place during school hours, it's the school's responsibility to be supervising the children regardless of whose parents were and were not there. Yes, the parents have some responsibility for their own children but during school hours the liability rests with the school not the parents.

  2. Clark or Scesney didn't come to the 4th grade circus. Every 4th grader at Stratford was in this performance - over 100 kids. PTA spends a fortune on this event and everyone loves it. Being in the circus is a highlight of 4th grade. The kids worked all week on their acts coming in early to practice and they were great. The gym was packed with families and even parents and kids from other grades were there. It's the best event at the school for all 4 years. How could the principal/assistant principal not show up? Don't they care about the kids?

  3. Clark was probably "behind closed doors" during the picnic. She's great at avoiding parents. This picnic has been going on for years. It should run like clockwork and be safe. Where was Scesney? If he was over at Pasadena then it shouldn't have been scheduled for a day he wasn't there.

  4. Where were the large fans that used to be in the gym?

  5. The fans are probably being used in the auditorium to prevent heatstroke for the kids that are rehearsing all week for Moving Up Day tomorrow.

It's been hot all week and weather.com says it's going to 92 tomorrow. Moving Up is in the afternoon, in the heat of the day in a room that will be packed to capacity with no windows.

In a final act of consideration to our children, Clark requested that boys wear long pants. Old Beth and Pasadena boys wore nice shorts for their ceremonies, appropriate to warm weather conditions and lack of air conditioning in our buildings.

They should but a couple more fans.
