Latest Plan for Wang Property to Have Hearing
Mr. Wang is once agin trying to bring a mega housing project into Plainview. The problem with the last project and with this one is that his project which includes an 890 multiple housing unit among other buildings. This will overburden our schools which will result in our tax bills going even higher. If they can not raise our tax bills then the services will suffer. Then consider how crowded old country road is now. Our roads will be in worse shape if this plan were to go foward. Mr. Wang should focus more on improving his hockey team then overcrowding our town

  2. Suzala, Can you start a new thread with this one?

It looks like a new superintendent has been found. Does anyone know anything about the woman? It appears that she is currently superintendent in East Williston.

Also, any word on when Ms. Gierasch is up for tenure?

  3. New Post Please.

Our new superintendent, here's what I found out thanks to Google and the NYS Department of Education's website.

She comes to us from the East Williston School District where she is the current superintendent. In 1977, she earned permanent certification in Physics (Grades 7-12). In 1988, that certification expanded to Math. She received her doctorate from Columbia Teachers' College in 1981. She became certified in School Administration around 1992.

I found an article that positively depicted her teaching Honors Physics in New Rochelle High School in 1987, having come there 3 years previously from the Collegiate School in Manhattan. I also found her listed as either principal or assistant principal at South Side High School in Rockville Centre, which I imagine would have taken place some time between her work in New Rochelle and her current position in East Williston.

I also was able to find some of her writing online. If you read her message to the community on East Williston's district website, you'll find she writes well.

That's as much as I was able to piece together about her. You have to love the Internet.

While it will take time for this community to get to know her, to see where she directs the district, I have to say that what I was able to find out about her so far is rather impressive. All evidence points to her being a woman of intelligence. Hopefully, she'll prove to be just what this district needs.
