Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Where the Money Goes":
Residents can go to BOE meetings to listen to and comment on the discussion of how the money will be spent. And it has to be voted on. Residents can vote against a project that they don't want.
The buildings need over $50 million dollars of work. The fund focuses attention on fixing a problem. Instead the budget has money going into technology like Smartboards. My kids never had a class with a smartboard and neither did I. I never went to school with leaks but my kids are. Something is wrong here.

Something is wrong here and the BOE refuses to accept the reality. How many years have they been giving raises out? how many years have they been increasing step raises?? How many years have the buildings been in need of repairs and have been ignored?? If the buildings need over 50 million dollars of work then why would the board give out theses raises? because they are in the unions pocket that is why. Safety? the BOE cares more about satisfying the PCT. Go to Board meetings ? they may hear you but the chance that they are listening is another story. when you have administrators raking in 140 k, 150k and teachers going home with over 2 grand a week, yes there is something wrong here
ReplyDeletePeople are telling me that they are BULLET voting. They are only voting for one person even though there are 3 seats to increase the chances of that person getting elected. Does this work?
ReplyDeleteMy kid has buckets collecting water from the Spanish room in POB Middle. Drip, drip, drip. I hear they predict rain again tomorrow. Water and rust drips down from the rusty ceiling. Poor working conditions, too, for those Spanish teachers. Smelly classroom. Does the Board have holes in their ceilings and roofs at home? Shouldn't this be a priority?
ReplyDeleteI don't understand bullet voting...why not vote for all the positions? If you can vote for 3 people what is the benefit of voting for only one? Can someone explain this?
ReplyDeletepoor working conditions? give me 115k a year,a huge pension, step increases, and all the other perks and I will work in a room with a leaking roof. Please the sympathy for the teachers is killing me
ReplyDeleteThat is not the way to vote. If you want gary bettan out of the board then vote for anybody but him and he will be out. Bullet voting will not be as effective as Voting for 3 people
ReplyDeleteHow about the PCT pay for the leaking roof. They have the money
ReplyDeleteThe leaking roof is an issue for our children as much as it is for the teachers. Many have allergies and asthma. The health hazards of this need to be taken seriously for everyone involved.
ReplyDeleteSpeak up about this at the next BOE meeting.
ReplyDeleteWho should speak up? Stefanie as usual? Admin is aware of this condition. No one here cares. Mr. Dempsey, are leaky roofs a priority to you? Would you want your kids in that classroom?
