I just wanted to make as many people aware that there was yet
another robbery in our neighborhood. While I was at temple this
evening, the police stopped in and asked the Rabbi to make an
announcement after services that there was a break-in on Fairway Drive
at 7:25 tonight. This is getting to be a ridiculous situation, so many
robberies happening week after week. We need to call the police for
even the slightest suspicious activity.

Subj: Recent Incidents in our area
Good Morning All - just wanted to share with you a conversation that I
had with the Plainview police dept last night.
The reason I called is because after hearing about all of the activity
in our area last night I remembered that at 4:45 yesterday I received
a call (showed as private number on my caller ID) from a Chimney
company - they basically told me that they had serviced me in the past
& it was time again for the service to be done. I said no thankyou &
hungup. After speaking with Melissa Kessler (she lives on Sutton) last
night - we realized that we both got the same call. - this is a scam
and it is a way for these horrible people to find out if there is
anyone at home.
Tips from the Plainview Police Dept - most of which we already know
most of all - we have to stick together - please pass this onto anyone
that is not on this list - I do not have all of the emails.
BTW -the man that was arrested on Joslyn/Sutton last night was
released - the cops said they had nothing to hold him on but also said
that there were no other robberies in our area last night after that-
Go figure!

- alarm on at all times - even when we are home
- house fully lit - front & back
- be aware - call in anything strange right away
- lock all doors at all times
- put away all valuables - don't leave ipads, itouchs laptops etc -
- don't leave them on coffee tables, kitchen counters where it is easy
- to see through a window.

Another Robbery. Be Safe. Be Alert.
Hi All!I know we all know that there have been a lot of robberies in our area lately, Well tonight, there was a robbery on Eaton Dr -actually a home invasion as there was a girl at home alone. They caught one of the men in front of my house. The police told me that there were 3 robberies today alone in Plainview . 2 were home invasions. One happened at 1:00 in the afternoon as a man was carrying in his groceries. The robber was armed with a gun. Most robberies are happening between 4:30 and 8:00pm. This "gang" has scanners, so they know where the cops are.]The police are asking that if you see ANYTHING suspicious-a car you don't recognize, people walking down your street that you do not know, to please call them. There was a parked van with Florida license plates that one neighbor on Eaton noticed, but did not bother to report. Now that they are invading occupied homes with weapons, it becomes a scarier situation. Be safe!
"A Race To Nowhere" -Must See Film At Library!
https://rtnplainviewny.eventbrite.com/?nomo=1
Just received this link and am passing it on to parents in the district....
March 13th the POB Library is showing,, " A Race To Nowhere".
I had the pleasure of viewing this film last year at a school in Suffolk county. I cannot recommend it enough for parents of school aged children. It will really make you think about your child's education and your expectations for them.
Register at the above address, but the theater seating is limited, so please be sure you will be going before you sign up.
and pass this information on to your friends!

What About Tracking?
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Anyone- Ideas for Indoor Activities for This Winte...":
New post please.
It's common knowledge that our district does a lot for students with special needs - autism spectrum, learning disabilities, etc. The assistance comes from both within the classroom as well as outside of it as far as special services, accommodations as per IEP's, etc. I personally think this is a great thing. All students deserve a quality education that meets their individual needs.
Can anyone offer information on what the district does for gifted or near gifted students? Yes, I know about Project Challenge. No doubt that's a great program but how are these and others who barely miss acceptance into it dealt with within the classroom. If there's no tracking, are they able to meet everyone's needs within the classroom?
Just curious if anyone has had any experience with this.
