Late Night Edition...

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Board Meeting Tonite!":

According to information from the meeting tonite, the BOE is at the table- but the teachers don’t like what’s being served'

  1. That is untrue. There have been ZERO negotiating sessions between BOE and UNION since atleast spring. In past, BOE and UNION actually met in a room and spoke. This has not ocurred.

  3. Let me start off by saying my neighbors and I support the Board of Ed. completely. I would like to say that after last night's Bd. of Ed. meeting I think the teachers are placing too much trust in their representatives. I think they should call for a vote on their own and see whether or not they want to accept the offer the Bd. of Ed. has given them. I think this whole impass may be the result of one or two individuals' egos.

is this a question of semantics and how BOE is defined?

BOE meaning the actual members of the board of ed or BOE meaning the negotiator hired by the BOE, the lawyer Mr. Guercio?

the actual members of the BOE have been pretty quiet on this subject during the BOE meetings letting Mr. Guercio or Superintendent Dempsey do the talking for the actual members of the BOE

rather than make assumptions, it would be interesting to know what the BOE members actually feel about what's going on - not just the legality of that you can't deny teachers the right to wear contract now buttons, even in school photos

they are or were parents in this school district also

talking about bulletin boards and class parents being allowed in the room for parties are general things - board of ed business

  5. Catholic High Schools in Long Island that have a student population of just 500 - cost approx USD 8000.00 a year . Their curriculum includes dance, even piano and other activities that in POB we have to pay for privately and chaperon them after school- 100 % of the students that graduate get a scholar ship and go to some of the finest universities in the US and overseas -
There teachers in these private schools make less than half of that POB and that of other Nassau County Teachers - Go figure at between 19K and 24 K per student - This is highway robbery and we residents are being lynch. It's time to get rid of these Union and their boses altogether - Look what they did to GM and Chrysler ? Now its seems it POB turn ! God Forbid.
