  5. You thought we had problems before, now Plainview will be full of toxicity.

  6. We are in trouble now.

  7. Stefanie helped get rid of Investigations math and got our kids real math. She got Stratford kids ELA workbooks that all other kids in our district were getting except for Stratford. She got Stratford to move the buses away from the car pool line and put staff outside for dismissal and arrival. She got school textbooks and A-Z leveled reading books at the public library. The status quo is toxic. We need Stefanie on the board.

  9. Ms Nelkens can be a formidable individual, but I have seen her get up over and over and successfully fight for a better and more equal education for our children. She also likes to keep the board accountable. I'd like someone on the board who has been doing this for the past 4 years. That's good experience for the position.

  10. You don't have to like Stefanie, but the fact is she will do a fantastic job on the Board. She fights for the kids. For those that don't know, she is on the Library Board and has done a great job there.

  11. Being on a library board and being part of the board of education are two very different boards. She will have her own agenda and that will spell trouble for all of us.

  12. Stephanie is not a people person and is certainly not a TEAM player.

  13. "Not a TEAM player," exactly describes the person I hope wins the BOE seat. The Team of players that presently occupies the seats has done very little to represent my concerns or improve the educational standards for my child. Whenever I attend board meetings Stephanie is one of the only ones asking the board to step up to the plate and then holds them accountable. I don't want any more team players who don't represent my or my child's best interests. I am looking for big changes in our district and with change there is often controversy and some discomfort.

  14. What TEAM is Stephanie on? She's not on any PTA or committee. She shows up at every school board meeting talking about making education better. So far her agenda has been math, report cards, getting rid of Gatorade and Pop Tarts in our school cafeterias, getting Stratford to staff the arrival and dismissal car pool lines, getting ELA workbooks for Stratford students, making sure our math curriculum is meeting the needs of the students. She's been successful in almost every area. She doesn't give up and works on her agenda for months. The school district hassles her about getting budget information - she must be doing something right if they are going out of their way to make things difficult for her.

As far as not being a people person perhaps you are confused with another candidate running for the board who I heard shushed people from asking questions at the budget presentation at the last SEPTA meeting. Stefanie might talk too much but she would never not let anyone else say or ask what they wanted.

  15. "Not a Team player"? What team? The good old BS club? Library Board? That's more experience than half of the community. It's the drive one has, and she has it. "Toxicity"? You people made my day. I laughed for about 10 minutes. I think you people are on the "what's in it for me team", which is the team that prevents my kids from getting a proper education. I disagree with some of her ideas, but she is the right person for the job. And no, I am not Stefanie.

  16. All of you Stephanie fans are really starting to scare me. I guess you never heard her Question, Complain, and Whine about her woes with POB. Talk about a personal agenda. WAKE UP People!!!

  17. Yes, I have. That's why I'm voting for her.

  18. Personal agenda? Stephanie got ELA workbooks for ALL Stratford 3rd and 4th graders. She could have just asked for one for her kid or just 4th grade and forgotten about everyone else.

She also is the reason why Old Beth parents aren't paying for Scholastic News and Time for Kids anymore. She figured out that inconsistency by just looking at the budget backup. No one else on the BOE or in administration noticed. They changed it after she brought it up. Her kid doesn't even go to that school. Why would she bother to bring it up if all she cared about was herself?

More and more parents are questioning, whining and complaining about their woes with POB. It's the only way to get the district that we want. Keeping quiet and accepting whatever happens is the way to end up having teachers that are texting during class, parents buying textbooks that should be provided by the schools and paying for tutors for education that should be happening in school.

The parents that questioned, whined and complained about buying textbooks for HS classes got that changed. Was it that a scary personal agenda also?

  19. Stefanie has been on PTA committees. She ran bookfair at Stratford Rd. and made numerous positive changes that led to a smooth operation. She served on curriculum committee which went from being one of no parent involvement to one that heard parent input and comments. She was on Transportation committee and ran blood drive, picture day,PARP and Kids on the Block (which with out Stefanie has vanished from our calendar). She volunteers when there is no other volunteer. All of her "talk" needs to be listened to--not ignored. She is all about change for our district.
