Just Inappropriate.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Teacher Cell Phone Use Unacceptable.":

This discourse is almost laughable. All cellphones in school should be turned off during instructional time - teachers as well as students. Accidental ringing can happen from time to time, both teachers' and students'. That's not the issue.

The teacher has no right to be answering a cellphone (unless in cases of extreme emergency), texting or making calls during instructional time. They should be teaching.

The words "animosity" and "hatred" have no place is this discussion. Whoever is choosing those words is basically manipulating the discussion away from the issue, which is appropriate educational/professional practice. There is no argument one can make that teacher cellphone use during class time is in any way in the best interest of the students.

Yes, teachers and students are different. Teachers are obligated to set an example by behaving as professional adults. They are employed to provide education to our children. Using their cellphones during instructional time is inappropriate.

Ed's note: Well said.Thank you.
