I also home school, my children 2-3 hours a night because they have so much work sent home to work on at night being that the work is not taught during the day.

ReplyDeletedo the teachers spend their vacations doing HW? I don't think so, it might interrupt their vacations.
Homework is a great way to pass the buck - you really see it during state test "review" work that comes home that your kid should be able to do but can't.
