For BOE, Teachers and PCT are the Prority; Parents Ignored

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Parents Second Class Citizens Because They Choose ...":

I have been to BOE meetings since February and what has the BOE done ? ignored those who speak. What was the result of all those parents getting up at the BOE meetings and speaking about why we should not be giving out the raises to the teachers and why we should tell the teachers, if you are unhappy in our school then go look elsewhere for employment? those parents were ignored by the BOE . So what is the point of going to the BOE meetings to be ignored? Voting down the budget and voting out the incumbents is the only way to effectively show the disgust of the way this BOE runs the district. Either way the kids do not look like they are at the top of the priority list here . Teachers and the PCT are on the top . There is no fear and complacency here . what it really is ? well deserved apathy and disgust because it is the same political game that keeps playing over and over

  1. You should be aware of the current political climate and what you are up against. To that end I humbly submit this link that discusses the California situation.

  2. Interesting article, but you are preaching to the choir. I have long maintained that unions have lost sight of their original purpose of protecting the rights of workers and have turned into extortionists who use their power to further line their pockets. This is true with the PCT. I don't know what the answer is here. Will voting down the budget bring the PCT down a few notches? Will it create reform here? Honestly I highly doubt it. What I fear is that what we will lose is programs for our children and that teachers' salaries and positions will remain intact. Will we end up biting off our nose to spite our face?

  3. There is a outside staircase at POB middle school that should be condemned. The orange protective fencing around it isn't even standing up straight. It looks like something from a war zone. There are leaky hallways and classrooms at POB. Things never should have gotten to this state of disrepair. It's embarassing.
