Reality is Pay Cuts, and 12 Hour Days

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Many Teachers Work 6 Hours Plus":

Hmmmm, my husband works 12+ hour days everyday with not only no raise but a paycut and was making less than the majority of our teachers to begin with. Welcome to reality. Good thing he doesn't take it out on his boss and employees at the workplace like the teachers have done to our children. Afterall he has no tenure.

  1. I wish everyone in the community would be so vocal to Cablevision, LIPA, etc. Just keep paying those bills too-and ordering more channels and services. Oh, let's not forget the $150+ cell phone bills a month. Give me a break.

  2. I bet if your husband complained that he was being underpaid his boss would show him the door because he does not have tenure like our teachers who continually complain about being underpaid. If our teachers are that unhappy, then there are over 100 other school districts to go to. We need more people at the next board meeting to speak up

  3. WHY SHD OUR TEACHERS MAKE LESS THAN YOUR HUSBAND. THEY TEACH MY KIDS, WHAT DOES YOUR HUSBAND DO FOR THE COMMUNITY??
Does your husband have collage and a masters degree? If hes educated why didnt he become a teacher?
Sounds like he tried to make it in the pvt. sector but couldnt do too well. Its not too late. I recomend he becomes a teacher as well.

  4. What kind of comparison is this? Your husbands poor career choice has nothing to do with those in a field that demands fair pay with steady raises... Im a carpenter, maybe I should get upset with the CEO's of every major american corporation for making more money than me!

  5. Cablevision, LIPA and cell phones provide services that are pretty reliable. They communicate when things are broken, they work to fix known problems and avoid new ones, they are willing to listen and actually attempt to make their customers happy. They even apologize when they are wrong. Now wouldn't it be something if we got the same quality of service from our educational system - reliable, pro-active, diligent, polite, apologetic? A friendly smile when contracts went through and budgets got passed? Our community has had deep pockets for a long time with no thank yous and not the best service in all areas. Any raise should have been accepted graciously and not deemed to be an insult.
